ASD Debate club, now 17 years old, celebrates the debating skills of its members, every year, through Dhahran Debates (Dhabates). In this event, teams of three students debate against each other on a variety of unique and compelling topics. Our competition is for non-Debate Club members as well, who wish to experience what it's like to be a competitive debater for the first time, and for our veteran debaters who wish to revive their skills before our larger inter-school debating competitions like EPID(Eastern Province Debate Contest, due in March 22) and SAND(Saudi Arabian National Debates, which is yet to commence). This is a thrilling opportunity to enhance communication and public speaking skills of ASD and BSD students, in a fun way!
This event started with the Round Robin semi-finals on Monday, November 29th, 2021 from 2:30-3:30 PM and the finals on 13 December 2021. First and Second place Winners of the finals were awarded medals and certificates by Mr Will McConnell, the Asst. Principal, ASD.
The second round of Dhabates will be in February, wherein, participants for EPID would be selected to 'fight with finesse' in an inter-school contest .
