Thursday Reflection

Happy Thursday ASD.

Yesterday after school I attended the Fall Benefit Concert.  It showcased the musical talents of many of our ASD students.  It was humbling because I greatly respect those who have the discipline and resilience to develop such skills.  Speaking of resilience I have been impressed by our students this year who have continued to achieve and thrive despite the challenges that have been presented.  Much of what our students are always working to develop falls under the domain of executive functioning.  Executive functioning is perhaps the most transferable skill we can ever develop in school.  It will be a key to our success in school, work, and even relationships.  Take a look at the link above.  It has ideas for teachers and students.  Knowledge is power when it is turned into action.  Research on your own, with your parents, and speak with your teachers about how to develop in the areas of executive functioning.  No one ever completely masters every facet of executive functioning, but it is the most worthwhile domain to practice in.

Have a great weekend.  Be good.
